Undergoing, or even anticipating, surgery can trigger feelings of nervousness or anxiety. At Round Rock Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, we know that these feelings are natural. We work to provide comfort and support through compassionate care to create a positive experience. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be welcomed by our warm and inviting staff. Conversations with our highly trained oral surgeons who are committed to listening to each patient’s unique needs can put even the most anxious minds at ease.

For most procedures, you’ll receive some form of anesthesia. After determining your treatment, your oral surgeon will discuss what anesthesia options are available and which is most appropriate for your needs. Dr. Weber, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, works to make sure you feel prepared before your procedure. With his skill and empathy, you’ll be in good hands. Types of Anesthesia

We offer several forms of anesthesia to ensure your comfort.

Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia involves applying numbing medication directly to the surgical area to provide pain relief during the procedure, but allows you to remain awake and alert.

Nitrous Oxide

Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide uses a mask to provide conscious sedation. It induces a state of calm relaxation, while offering pain relief.

Intravenous (IV) Sedation

Referred to as twilight sedation, IV sedation is a deeper level of sedation. It is administered through an intravenous line to induce a semi-conscious state while eliminating pain. Often, a patient wakes up with no recollection of the procedure.

General Anesthesia

Used for more extensive procedures, general anesthesia renders patients completely unconscious and is typically used in hospitals or surgery centers.

About Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry is an excellent option for patients who struggle with fear or anxiety when seeing the dentist. At Round Rock Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, we are committed to ensuring you have the most stress-free and comfortable experience possible. Through sedation dentistry, you can receive the care you need to maintain excellent oral health, without the anxiety.

Patients of any age can benefit from sedation dentistry. Also known as sleep dentistry, sedation dentistry induces relaxation through the use of different sedation levels. Depending on your procedure, its complexity, and your level of anxiety, our team will determine which level of sedation is most appropriate for your needs.

Dr. Weber is committed to providing relief to anxious patients and helping them access the care they need in the most comfortable way. As a board-certified oral surgeon with exceptional training in anesthesia administration and patient monitoring, he will prioritize your comfort and safety throughout your procedure.

Am I a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is helpful for children and adults who have dental fears and may experience other symptoms like sensitivity, restlessness, or a strong gag reflex. It’s suitable for patients who have been postponing dental treatment due to different fears, have had past traumatic experiences, or require longer procedures.

Can Oral Surgeons Perform Anesthesia?

As a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Weber has undergone rigorous training, received extensive education, and possesses the necessary qualifications to administer all types of anesthesia.
